Airfrying chicken gives the skin a wonderfully crisp texture without the addition of any oil, which makes it a great method to use for a quick and healthy weeknight dinner. And now, with the Philips XXL Avance Airfryer, you can cook an entire chicken in a single batch. If you have a smaller air fryer, simply cook the chicken in two batches.

Ingredients

  • 1 chicken, about 3 1/2 lb. (1.75 kg), cut into 8 serving pieces
  • 1 Tbs. smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups (12 fl. oz./375 ml) Caramelized Black Garlic BBQ Sauce, plus more for serving

Directions

In a small bowl, stir together the paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cayenne and brown sugar. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the chicken pieces.

Preheat a Philips XXL Avance Airfryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the chicken pieces in the fry basket skin side down and insert the basket into the air fryer. Cook until the chicken is nicely browned, about 20 minutes. Remove the basket from the air fryer and remove the chicken from the basket. Brush the chicken evenly with the barbecue sauce.

Reduce the air fryer temperature to 350°F (180°C). Return the chicken to the basket skin side up and insert the basket into the air fryer. Cook until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of one of the thighs, not touching the bone, registers 165°F (74°C), 5 to 10 minutes.

Serve immediately, passing additional barbecue sauce alongside. Serves 4.
