Anchor Steam, the signature brew made by San Francisco’s Anchor Brewing Company, lends its complex, hoppy flavor to our exclusive braising sauce, which is used here to prepare tender bone-in short ribs. Serve with polenta or cooked pasta.
Ingredients
- 5 lb. (2.5 kg) bone-in short ribs
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 2 Tbs. vegetable oil
- 1 jar (24.5 oz./695 g) Anchor Steam braising sauce
Directions
Season the ribs with salt and pepper.
In the stovetop-safe insert of a slow cooker or in a large fry pan over medium-high heat, warm the oil until just smoking. Working in batches, brown the beef on all sides, 8 to 10 minutes per batch. If you used a slow cooker insert, return all the beef to the insert and transfer the insert to the slow cooker base. If you used a fry pan, transfer the beef to a slow cooker.
Add the braising sauce to the beef. Cover and cook on high according to the manufacturer’s instructions until the meat is fork-tender, about 5 hours.
Skim the fat off the sauce and serve immediately. Serves 6 to 8.
