Campari and Soda

Campari is a popular aperitif created in the 1860s by Gaspare Campari, a bartender in Milan. Aficionados favor the bright red drink for its complex taste reminiscent of bitter oranges, one of its components. It is typically served with soda.

Ingredients

  • 12 to 18 ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups Campari
  • 1 bottle (16 fl. oz.) soda water, or as needed, chilled
  • Thin slices of orange or lemon peel for garnish

Directions

Chill 6 glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes.

In each glass place 2 or 3 ice cubes and pour in 1/4 cup of the Campari. Add 1/3 cup of the soda water, or more to taste, stir and garnish with a citrus peel. Serves 6.
