Classic Margaritas
Read Reviews >There are almost as many recipes for margaritas are there are aficionados of tequila. You’ll find them served up, blended with ice or made with a variety of fruits such as watermelon or mango. Here is a classic version of the drink, served on ice to keep it cold on warm summer evenings.
Ingredients
- Coarse sea salt for the glasses
- 1 lime wedge
- 3 oz. (90 ml) white tequila
- 1 oz. (30 ml) Cointreau or triple sec
- 1 oz. (30 ml) fresh lime juice
- 2 lime wheels for garnish (optional)
Directions
Spread the salt on a small plate. Moisten the rims of two small tumblers or two margarita glasses with the lime wedge. One at a time, invert the glasses onto the plate to coat the rims, then shake off any excess salt. Fill the glasses with ice.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, Cointreau and lime juice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into the prepared glasses and garnish each glass with a lime wheel. Serve immediately. Makes 2 drinks.
