The Sunnyside
Aperol, an Italian aperitif that is somewhat similar to Campari but less intensely bitter, gives this summery cocktail its sunny orange hue. For an especially pretty presentation, garnish the drink with a melon ball.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2-inch (4-cm) cube fresh melon, such as cantaloupe or honeydew
- 1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) blanco tequila
- 3/4 oz. (20 ml) Aperol
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) dry vermouth
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
Directions:
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the melon until it releases some of its juice. Fill the shaker with ice and add the tequila, Aperol, vermouth and lemon juice. Shake vigorously, strain into a coupe or martini glass and serve immediately. Makes 1 drink.
