Steaming is a great way to cook a variety of your favorite dishes quickly and without additional fat. Vegetables, fish, eggs, rice, other grains and even poultry take well to this cooking method. The powerful Breville Steam Zone is the newest way to steam almost anything in a minimum of time—it reaches maximum steam level in less than 30 seconds—and the innovative Sync Finish function allows you to cook two different dishes with different steam levels and different cooking times so that they are done at the same time. You can even set it to keep dishes warm after they finish cooking.
To cook two different dishes at once, divide them between the machine’s two 7-inch stainless-steel steaming baskets and the press the “Split Zone” button, then press “Sync Finish” if you want them to be finished at the same time. The LCD display will direct you to set the steam level and cooking time for both of your dishes. Then press “Start” and the machine will do the rest.
For steaming large items, use the 16-inch steaming tray instead of in the individual baskets. This is a great way to cook whole fish or other large items that won’t fit in most collapsible steamer baskets or steamer inserts that go into stove-top pots or saucepans.
The uses for this powerful machine are nearly endless. For just a few ideas of dishes you might want to make using the Breville Steam Zone, see the recipes on the right.
