Truffle Mac N Cheese

Whipping up a rich Italian-style version of an American classic is easy with our starter that combines aged Parmesan and cheddar cheeses with black truffles and garlic. For a truly decadent dish, shave a fresh black truffle over the top before serving.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. (500 g) dried short pasta, such as macaroni, penne or cavatappi
  • 1 package Truffle Mac & Cheese Starter Kit (includes sauce mix packet and panko packet)
  • 2 1/2 cups (20 fl. oz./625 ml) whole milk
  • 3 Tbs. unsalted butter
  • Kosher salt
  • Thinly shaved black truffle for garnish (optional)

Directions:

Preheat an oven to 350°F (180°C).

Bring a large pot two-thirds full of salted water to a boil over high heat. Cook the pasta until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes or according to the package instructions. Drain the pasta and return to the pot.

Lower the heat to medium and add the sauce mix, milk and butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter has melted and the mixture is well combined. Season with salt as desired.

Pour the mixture in a 9-by-13-inch (23-by-33-cm) baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with the panko and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes. Garnish with the black truffle shavings and serve. Serves 8.
