Pillivuyt History
In 1818, Jean Jouis and Charles Pillivuyt (pronounced "pilly-vweet") founded a porcelain factory in
the Berry region of France. After winning gold medals at the World's Fair in Paris, the company set
out to create unique pieces for the world's most prestigious tables – and were soon making fine
porcelain for royal courts. Chuck Williams, founder of Williams Sonoma, discovered Pillivuyt in the
early 1960's and curated a wide assortment for his customers. Today, Pillivuyt's French porcelain
kitchenware is a favorite with professional chefs and home cooks around the globe.
